PowerHouse Energy Group PLC (LON:PHE) has received independent confirmation that the syngas produced from its ultra-high temperature waste-to-energy system can be cleaned up into almost pure hydrogen.
Keith Allaun, chief executive, said the verification was critical for talks with hydrogen road-fuel users.

Powerhouse’s DMG technology converts waste plastic, end-of-life tyres, and other industrial and municipal waste materials into syngas.
Independent tests carried out by suppliers of clean-up equipment indicated 99.999% hydrogen was produced by the Distributed Modular Gasification system after it was cleaned up.
One of the suppliers has now indicated it will provide Pressure Swing Adsorption clean-up equipment to Powerhouse to generate road-quality hydrogen.
An agreement has been reached in principal, subject to minor engineering detail, the company said in a statement.

Allaun said this will be the enabling mechanism to roll out of distributed hydrogen production and carbon-neutral hydrogen refuelling stations in the UK and in a number of countries around the world.”
PowerHouse developed both the G3-UHt Ultra High Temperature Gasification unit and Distributed Modular Gasification.
