The X4Z well will produce from a 200 metre zone in the Kimmeridge

Angus Energy PLC (LON:ANGS) has told investors that it has received final approval from UK regulator The Oil & Gas Authority for it to start production at the Kimmeridge zones from a well on the Brockham oil field.

The X4Z well at Brockham, in Surrey, will initially produce from a 200 metre naturally fractured section of the Kimmeridge interbedded shale and limestone.

In a stock market statement, the company reaffirmed that there will be no hydraulic fracturing (or fracking) at the Brockham oil field.

The company also highlighted that before the start of production, it will install a connection to the national grid for the distribution of excess power generated on-site.

Angus owns a 55% interest in Brockham, alongside partners including Doriemus PLC (LON:DOR) and Alba Minerals Resources PLC (LON:ALBA) which have 10% and 5% respectively.

In a separate statement, Doriemus executive chairman David Lenigas described Monday’s Brockham news as “excellent”.

“We at Doriemus now have a great deal of activity happening at both our Brockham and Lidsey Oil Fields and will soon be conducting the extended well testing programme at the Horse Hill -1 ‘Gatwick Gusher’ well as announced last week. “

UK Oil & Gas Investments PLC (LON:UKOG) last week secured planning approval from Surrey County Council for new well programmes and long term production testing at Horse Hill – which a number of companies including Doriemus have invested in.

First, UKOG is advancing operations to test the nearby Broadford Bridge well, which aims to flow test the Kimmeridge at that location.

Earlier this month, Angus told investors that it had completed its drill programme at the Lidsey field, in the southern edge of the Weald basin, near Bognor Regis. It plans to produce from 443 metres of net oil pay in the Great Oolite limestone reservoir. The Lidsey well also encountered the Kimmeridge, at a depth between 782 metres and 862 metres, and further analysis of the zone is anticipated.
