Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F) will recall about 1.3 million vehicles in North America, costing the carmaker an estimated US$267mln.
The company will recall certain 2015-17 Ford F-150 and 2017 Ford Super Duty trucks.
Ford said the side doors of the vehicles can appear closed when not fully latched. Dealers will add water shields to side door latches to correct the problem.
Ford said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with the issue.
The cost of recall will be reflected in Ford’s fourth quarter results but the company said its earnings per share guidance for the full year remains unchanged at US$1.65 to US$1.85.
Shares were little changed in early US trading, changing hands at US$12.31, up 0.29%.
