Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is apparently giving up on the Windows Phone, the high-profile handsets that have long lagged behind Apple’s iPhone and rival devices running on Google’s Android operating system.
Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore, who heads up Windows 10, over a series of tweets communicated that no new handsets or mobile only Windows software will be developed.
Of course we'll continue to support the platform.. bug fixes, security updates, etc. But building new features/hw aren't the focus. ???? https://t.co/0CH9TZdIFu

Like Blackberry before it, the Windows mobile system failed to compete with the two dominant smartphone platforms, Apple’s iPhone /iOS and Google’s Android, account for almost all the smartphone in the market.
