Base Resources updates on mineral depletion at Kwale

Base Resource has increased its resource base at the Southern Dune at Kwale to make up for the successful mining of mineral sands during the year

Base Resources Limited (LON:BSE) has continued to mine successfully at the Kwale mineral sands project such that reserves at the Central Dune were depleted by 11.2mln tonnes of ore containing 790,000 tonnes of heavy mineral, while resources were reduced by 12.8 mln tonnes containing 870,000 tonnes of heavy mineral. At the South Dune, however, resources were increased following infill drilling to give 560,000 tonnes of heavy mineral in the measured and indicated categories, with more inferred.

The total, Kwale mineral resource as at 30 June 2017 was estimated to be 147.3mln tonnes at an average heavy mineral grade of 3.5%, as well as additional slimes. Reserves as at 30 June 2017 were estimated to be 91.3mln tonnes at an average grade of 4.3% and 26% slimes containing 3.90mln tonnes of heavy mineral.
