Synchronoss Technologies Inc surges as Siris Capital Partners resumes bid talks

A look at some of the big movers on Friday.

RISERS

Synchronoss Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:SNCR). Up 26% at US$13.46

Having previously dropped out of the running to buy Synchronoss, Siris Capital Partners is back in the frame.

It had dropped out of negotiations after Synchronoss declined to terminate all discussions with other potential bidders.

Giga-tronics Incorporated (NASDAQ:GIGA), up 21% at US$0.84

The company has received an additional US$4.9 million order extending ongoing production of its high performance RADAR filters for a major aerospace company.

FALLERS

Helen of Troy Limited (NASDAQ:HELE), down 7.7% at US$89.60

Results from the designer and developer of consumer brand-name housewares, health and home, nutritional supplement and beauty products disappointed. Fiscal earnings per share on a reported basis were 33 cents, while on the company's preferred measure they clocked in at US$1.65, 30 cents above the consensus forecast.

Costco Wholesale Corp (NASDAQ:COST), down 5.8% at US$157.38

Costco was another stock that topped expectations with its earnings, but analysts were more concerned at the pressure on margins.
