Equifax Inc (NYSE:EFX) stock was seen lower ahead of Tuesday’s open after the credit reference group warned that the size of the last month’s hack was worse than previously feared.
It said that some 145.5mln consumers may be affected by the breach, which is about 2.5mln more people than Equifax had estimated.
Later today, former Equifax boss Richard Smith (who quit last week) is due to sit down with US lawmakers at a scheduled congress hearing, with the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
Smith will be asked how hackers were able to gain access to the personal information.
Equifax shares were down 0.78% changing hands just below US$107 per share in pre-market dealing.
