“The submission of the Mining License for the future Imweru Goldmine is a major milestone for the project,” said boss Louis Coetzee

AIM-quoted gold explorer Katoro Gold PLC (LON:KAT) has submitted the mining licence application for its Imweru project three months ahead of schedule.

The application was submitted to the Tanzanian Ministry of Energy and Minerals on Monday after the firm made “rapid progress” with the execution of its resource development programme.

Katoro added that it was also making “excellent progress” in finalising the updated mineral resource statement for the project.

Geological samples

Laboratory results for all the geological samples collected during the recent drill programme have also been received ahead of schedule, with the technical team currently processing the data.

“We are extremely pleased with the sustained momentum and progress on the Imweru project in general,”said exeutive chairman Louis Coetzee.

“The submission of the Mining License for the future Imweru Goldmine is a major milestone for the project.

“Similarly, the completion of laboratory analyses allows both the Mineral Resource Update, Pit Optimization and Mine Design to progress at pace as Katoro continues to deliver milestones for the development of the Imweru project ahead of schedule and within budget.”

Katoro shares were up 1.5% to 3.3p in morning trade on Thursday.
