Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) has launched an online shopping service that will allow customers to order their food and have it delivered to them within an hour.
The move is part of the retailer’s attempts to cash in on the success of its food hall, which is far outperforming its clothing division.

For now, M&S is trialling the service at its Camden store in north London which is offering home delivery within one and two hour slots to homes within a three mile radius.
Retailer previously resisted online grocery arena
The Woodley store near Reading is currently offering a collection only service with a two-hour turnaround.
M&S has resisted the urge to enter the online grocery arena for a while but it has reconsidered, probably due to the fact that the market is forecast to double to more than £17bn by 2020.
“We have started two small food online trials with selected Sparks members as we explore what works for our customers,” an M&S spokesperson said.
