Amazon reportedly preparing ‘smart glasses’, so can it outdo Google?

Google famously failed with its initial ‘glass’ wearable, so can Amazon's tilt at the 'smart glasses' market be a success?

Not content with taking on the supermarket grocers, Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is apparently trying to outdo Google’s tech with its reported new move.

Amazon is said to working on new wearable technology products. Specifically, it is developing what are described as ‘smart glasses’.

The glasses will be able to interact with Amazon’s Alexa personal assistant platform, according to a report in the Financial Times.

Google famously failed with its initial wearable ‘glass’, with the first iterations shelved back in 2015.

It remains to be seen whether the Google glass product was just too ahead of its time. The company more recently announced it was looking again at Glass but specifically for enterprise.

Amazon would seemingly be getting a march on Google if its new wearable proves successful.
