Two top executives of a business that helps football teams promote themselves in China have been suspended after the company’s finance director cried foul.
BNN Technology plc (LON:BNN) said it was investigating “serious allegations” against chief executive Darren Mercer and chief operating officer Wei Qi.
They were made by Scott Kennedy, who has resigned from the firm, which has partnerships with Barcelona, Manchester City and Arsenal.
Trading in the stock, which is listed on AIM, was halted as BNN said it would commission a “thorough review” of the allegations.
“The decision to suspend two of our senior team was not taken lightly and should not be taken as an assessment of the validity, or otherwise, of these allegations," chairman Harry Keiley said in the statement.
"However, given the serious nature of these allegations and the source from which they have come, the independent committee feels it has no choice but to suspend the relevant individuals at this time."
