DowDuPont merger, Tenet Healthcare Corp, Starbucks, Amazon and more - PRE-MARKET

A look at what's moving the needle on Friday in pre-market ahead of the job creation number

Wall Street shares are set to continue higher as traders eye the key non-farm payroll number.

Economists are forecasting that the US added between 180,000 and 190,000 jobs during August, down from 209,000 in July. How the figure will play out in terms of decisions on rate rises remains to be seen.

Stocks in focus pre-market include tech group Palo Alto Networks Inc (NYSE:PANW), which saw shares rise after hours after a fourth quarter earnings report cheered investors, showing revenue and earnings gliding past analysts' expectations.

In company news, the merger of Dow Chemical Co (NYSE:DOW), down 0.38% after hours, and DuPont is complete as of today, and the new entity called DowDuPont will begin trading today on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "DWDP."

Elsewhere, Lululemon Athletica Inc (NYSE:LULU) reported after the bell, with shares surging 5.8% to US$60.89 as its second quarter earnings were above estimates.

The group earned US$49mln in the three months, compared with $54 million in the year-ago period.

Under-the-cosh Tenet Healthcare Corp (NYSE:THC) added 2.8% after hours as it emerged it is replacing chief executive Trevor Fetter and several directors.

The hospital operator has been under pressure from activist investor Glenview Capital Management, which is its largest shareholder with a 17.8% stake.

Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) shares nudged 0.04% higher after hours as it was reported that the tech behemoth is planning to launch its one hour and two-hour delivery services – known as "Prime Now" – in Canada later in 2017.

Coffee giant Starbucks Corp (NASDAQ:SBUX) is a trending stock pre- market too with shares nudging higher in pre-market. There is no major news to peak off but the group is reportedly bringing back its popular pumpkin spiced latte drink this autumn.
