G4S investors shrug off immigration centre abuse scandal

Pub groups Greene King and JD Wetherspoon were both downgraded in HSBC's sector review.

G4S Plc (LON:GFS) investors have seemingly shrugged off latest news of a scandal - today it emerged that nine of the security and services group’s staff were suspended from an immigration removal centre after claims of abuse – though the group’s share price was up about 1.6% trading at 288.1p.

There was very little sign of recovery for Indivior Plc (LON:INDV) which was down 35% at 269p in early afternoon dealing.

9:42am: Greene King dented as HSBC downgrades to ‘reduce’

Greene King Plc (LON:GNK) shares were struggling on Friday morning, down 4.8% to 656p, as HSBC downgraded the UK pub group to ‘reduce’ from ‘hold’ and set a target of 595p.

In a sector review, the bank’s analysts also move J D Wetherspoon Plc (LON:JDW) down to ‘hold’ from ‘buy’.

Cinema owner Everyman Media Group Plc (LON:EMAN) got a boost from interim results, with shares rising 4%, after showing a 55% improvement in revenue to £18.8mln and earnings (adjusted EBITDA) were up 123% to £3mln.

Indivior PLC (LON:INDV) was Friday’s standout loser with more than £1bn was wiped from the value of the drugs group, which appears to be losing the legal battle to protect its best-selling product from copycat competition – the share was down 38.7% trading at 255p just after 9:30am.

HaiKe Chemical Group Ltd (LON:HAIK) shares fell nearly 8% to trade at 35p each after interim results, for the six months to June 30, which referenced lower than expected sales and reduced output amid its own annual plant shutdowns and shutdowns among clients that are adapting operations in light of new environmental regulations.
