Shoe Carnival, Five Below, Semtech Corp and more - AFTER HOURS

We at Proactive picked out some highlights from the after hours trade in New York

After a positive close on Wall Street Wednesday, a number of stocks were in play after hours.

It had been a day for retail results and Shoe Carnival Inc (NASDAQ:SCVL), the 'family footwear chain' reported after the bell.

Shares surged almost 19% after hours to $19.51 as it whipped past second quarter earnings and revenue expectations.

The firm saw net income of 24 cents a sharencompared to 22 cents a share in the year-ago period. Revenue rose to US$235.1mln compared to US$231.9mln in the same quarter last year.

Elsewhere, and on the end of selling, Box Inc (NYSE:BOX), the cloud tech firm, saw its shares lose 4.79% to US$18.70 after hours despite it posting an earnings and revenue beat for the quarter.

It reported negative free cash flow of US$14.7mln after two positive quarters.

In a similar vein, Five Below Inc (NASDAQ:FIVE), the discount store group, saw shares ease 0.57% to US$48.90 despite it posting earnings and revenue which were better than Wall Street had expected. It also raised its guidance for its financial year.

Semtech Corp (NASDAQ:SMTC), the semiconductor (chip) supplier, saw its shares drop 13.57% to US$33.75 after the New York bell as the group beat earnings estimates but missed revenue expectations.

Third quarter net sales (GAAP) are expected to be between US$145mln and US$153mln.
