Pantheon Resources shares tank as Hurricane Harvey wreaks havoc on operations

Pantheon said it is unlikely to be able to assess the damage of Hurricane Harvey until early September

Pantheon Resources PLC (LON:PANR) shares fell as it said Hurricane Harvey has disrupted its oil and gas operations in Texas.

Shares dropped 10.64% to 45.13p in morning trading.

The storm continued to tear across southeast Texas yesterday, breaking the record for the most extreme rainfall on the US mainland. Some areas of the region have seen more than 40 inches of rain.

Harvey is expected to turn north across Tyler and Polk counties where Pantheon has operations over the next few days.

Further update when more information available

Pantheon said in a statement that all of its operations were suspended ahead of the storm and its locations were secure but it has no information on whether any of its wellheads or associated facilities have been affected by the high rainfall.

The oil and gas explorer expects it will be able to assess the damage to its sites in early September.

Operations on its VOBM#2H well in Polk County will be delayed. Pantheon had recovered all frac load fluid from the well and was awaiting completion and production equipment.

The arrival of the drilling rig for the VOBM#4 well in Tyler County will also be put on hold until after the second week of September.

“We will issue a further update as more information is made available,” Pantheon said.
