Telstra Corporation Ltd (ASX:TLS) is one of the most traded stocks on the ASX today, with 36 million shares changing hands by early afternoon.
The stock is down 5.7% to $3.62, impacted by the fact the shares trade ex-dividend today.
Also hurting Telstra shares was an update on the plans to monetise a portion of its locked-in recurring nbn receipts.
This proposal was subject to agreement and a number of steps including approvals and consents from investors, the Commonwealth Government and nbn co.
While the proposal is well progressed and supported by equity and debt investors, Telstra said that it has been advised that technical consents from nbnco will not be forthcoming.
