After a day where Hurricane Harvey dominated headlines (to be superseded now in part by Trump and North Korea) sports apparel retailers were in focus after hours in New York.
Finish Line Inc (NASDAQ:FINL) shares tanked over 30% to $7.29 after the bell as its second quarter numbers disappointed the market.
Sales for the three months fell 3.3%, while comparable sales fell 4.6% against the same time in 2016.
The company also lowered its full-year guidance to between 50 and 60 cents a share, which was considerably lower than the $1.12 to $1.23 per share it previously forecast.
Peer companies also took a hit from the figures in sympathy.
Foot Locker Inc (NYSE:FL), the sports shoe chain, dropped 4.37% after the bell, while Under Armour Inc (NYSE:UAA) dropped 2% although later recovered and Pennsylvania based Dick's Sporting Goods Inc (NYSE:DKS) fell 1.71% to $26.50.
On the flip side, Catalent Inc (NYSE:CTLT) , the drug delivery tech firm, saw its shares surge over 13% to $40 after revealing that its fourth quarter revenue increased 16% against the same quarter last year.
EPS (earnings per share) were 49 cents each in the period, compared with 46 cents in the same period last year.
US benchmarks closed mixed on Monday, with the Dow Jones closing down 5.27 points but the Nasdaq adding over 17 and the S&P 500 gaining 1.19.
