A look at the day's big movers

RISERS

DSW Inc (NYSE:DSW), up 23% at US$19.23

Sales in the second quarter were up 3.3% year-on-year to US$680.4mln. Like-for-like sales were 0.6% higher.

"We were pleased to report our first positive comp [comparative] quarter since 2015. This resulted in a healthy increase in regular priced sales and improvements across all selling metrics,” said Roger Rawlins, chief executive officer said.

Ruby Tuesday Inc (NYSE:RT), up 7.6% at US$1.98

Like-for-like (LFL) sales are still falling at the restaurants group, but nowhere near as fast as they were. LFL sales were down 1.6% in the 13 weeks to 31 May, which was nowhere near as bad as the 4.0% decline in the preceding quarter.

FALLERS

Coty Inc (NYSE:COTY), down 11% at US$17.41

The beauty products firm’s fourth-quarter earnings missed forecasts, reflecting increased marketing spend and the costs of integrating Proctor & Gamble Inc’s beauty business, acquired last year.

Inpixon (NASDAQ:INPX), down 16% at US$0.2525

The AirPatrol air conditioning controller firm tried the old trick of releasing good news this morning to distract from the previous night's disappointing results.

It posted an underlying loss of US$2.7mln in the second quarter, versus a loss the year before of US$2.2mln.

News this morning that it had forged a partnership with GTRI to boost physical cyber-security offerings was nowhere near positive enough to overcome the disappointment of the results.
