Hunting promotes chief operating officer, Jim Johnson to chief executive role from September 1

The new CEO, who is a US citizen and will be based in Houston, Texas, was managing director of the oil services group's US operations between 2000 and 2011

Hunting Plc (LON:HTG) has appointed Jim Johnson as its chief executive with effect from September 1, succeeding Dennis Proctor who will retire on that date.

Johnson, who joined Hunting in 1992, is currently the FTSE 250-listed group's chief operating officer, a role which he has occupied since 2011.

The new CEO, who is a US citizen and will be based in Houston, Texas, was managing director of the oil services group's US operations between 2000 and 2011.

Commenting on the appointment, Hunting’s chairman, Richard Hunting said: "The Nomination Committee considered internal and external candidates from the global energy manufacturing and service industries and firmly believes that the right choice has been made in what has been a thorough process."

The chief executive designate, Johnson said: “I look forward to the challenge of taking the Group through its next phase of growth, building on the foundation laid by Dennis over many years."
