Online retailing giant Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is looking to venture into selling tickets for events in the US, taking on Tickmaster which dominates the business, according to a Reuters report.
Citing unnamed sources, the report said Amazon had attempted to enter the ticketing business through a partnership with Ticketmaster, a unit of Live Nation Entertainment Inc., without success amid differences over the control of customer data.
Being able to sell tickets could help Amazon attract more customers to its Amazom Prime product, it said.
Amazon has been selling seats to shows in London's west end since 2015 with some success, outselling Ticketmaster for some events, it added.
