PowerHouse Energy Group PLC (LON:PHE) has started demonstrations of its waste-to-hydrogen technology at the Thornton Science Park ahead of an expected full week of operation in September.
The green energy group will collect data from a variety of sources integrated throughout the G3-UHt unit during this demonstration phase and this information will be used in the design of a first commercial unit.
David Ryan, Powerhouse’s head of programme development, said: “We now have the tools, the talent, and the G3-UHt in operation to allow us to develop DMG [distributed modular gasification] into a commercial reality.

“We are taking a thoughtful and conservative approach to getting the full-scale design right first time. This will save us development time and cost in the long run.”
Last month, PowerHouse reported peak production of 50 cubic metres per hour of synthesis gas (syngas) from the G3-UHt gasification reactor at the Thornton in Chester.
The company expects a number of potential partners and customers to visit the demonstration unit in the next few months.
