Luxury interiors proving a harder sell in the UK for Walker Greenbank

Licensing income was strong, with sales up 21% at constant currencies

UK sales have tailed off for luxury interiors specialist Walker Greenbank PLC (LON:WGB), it revealed today.

The posh wallpaper, fabrics and paints said sales in Europe and the US were still going well, especially with a currency boost, but the UK had dropped by 1.8%.

Overall sales were 36% ahead in the half year to July, but that included a contribution from the October acquisition of fabrics group Clarke & Clarke.

Otherwise sales were 3.6% higher or just 0.5%, allowing for foreign exchange.

Licensing income was strong, with sales up 21% at constant currencies and overall the group is on track to meet market forecasts.

Shares fell 4p to 231p.
