US shares closed lower on Friday, with the Dow Jones down 31 at 21,580.
The S&P 500 finished at 2,472 - down 0.92.
The Nasdaq Composite Index closed 2.25 points down at 6,387, while the TSX in Toronto shed 79 points at 15,184.
MID-SESSION
US shares are still tracking lower at mid-session on Wall Street, with the Dow Jones Industrial Index down 40 points at 21,571.
The broader based S&P 500 was down 2.63 points to stand at 2,470.
The tech heavy Nasdaq index shed almost eight points to stand at 6,382.
Oil - US crude - fell 2.81% to stand at $45.60 a barrel.
It comes as White House news is dominating headlines as Sean Spicer, President Trump's press spokesman, resigns after six months in the job.
Spicer reportedly made the move after the president tapped Anthony Scaramucci, a New York financier as the new White House communications director.
In stocks, General Electric Company (NYSE:GE) added 3.24% to $25.82 after it reported better-than-expected profit for its second quarter.
The quarterly adjusted earnings came in at $0.28 per share, on revenue of $29.56bn, against analysts' expecations of EPS of $0.25 per share on net sales of $29.02bn.
On the losing front, American Superconductor Corporation (NYSE:AMSC) shed almost 15% at $3.59 as FBR Capital downgraded the stock to 'Market Perform' from 'outperform'.
Elsewhere, specialty pharma business Pernix Therapeutics Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: PTX) lost over 16% to $3.73 after it reported a second quarter net loss of between $24.5mln and $25 million, and sales of $33 million to $35 million.
1pm - Sean Spicer resigns
Sean Spicer, the much written about White House press secretary has resigned, according to reports.
Spicer came to the White House from the Republican National Committee, where he was communications director.
According to the New York Times, which broker the story Spicer left because he disagreed with the appointment of New York financier Anthony Scaramucci as communications director.
The Dow Jones is down 38 at 21,573, the Nasdaq is 2.73 lower at 6,387 and the SD&P 500 lost 1.46 at 2,472.

It was a day of red for global equities and US shares started lower out of the box, as it seemed their record run was coming to an end.
The Dow Jones Industrial Index is down 84 at the time of writing, while the S&P 500 is almost 7 lower and the Nasdaq dropped over 12 points.
In oil, the US crude- is down 1.56% to $46.20n a barrel.
In London, FTSE 100 is down 34 at 7,453 at the time of writing, while Germany and Frances' main indices are also lower.
General Electric (NYSE:GE) shares rose 0.8% after falling in pre-market as profit fell less than expected.
Toothpaste giant Colgate-Palmolive Co (NYSE: CL) plunged over 3% however after a sales missed expectations.
