Tech titan Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) was always going to be in focus after the bell, and so it was the case.
Shares added around 4% after the bell as the market mulled over its quarterly numbers, which beat estimates on its revenue and earnings.
It posted EPS (earnings per share) of 98 US cents per share and US$24.7bn in revenue in its fourth-quarter earnings release.
The results appeared to justify the group's shift towards the cloud business, with Intelligent Cloud revenue up 11% at US$7.4bn and Azure - the public cloud business, reporting revenue growing 97% to drive the server products and cloud services arm up 15%.

In other new, shares in credit card giant Visa (NYSE:V) gained over 1% in after hours trade, as it comfortably beat analysts' estimates with its third-quarter earnings and revenue.
The global firm also forecast net revenue to rise about 20% in the year to end September, having previously expected a 16 -18% increase.
Elsewhere, shares in credit card and loan giant Capital One (NYSE:COF) rose more than 4% in after hours deals. The company's second-quarter earnings report yesterday included results on the top and bottom line which exceeded consensus analyst estimates.
Meanwhile, Ebay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) shares plunged over 4% after hours, after the online marketplace company delivered earnings in line with analysts' expectations.
