Perhaps the most entertaining presentation of the morning session here at the Noosa Mining Exploration Conference 2017 was delivered by Vimy Resources Ltd’s Mike Young.
The Canadian was quick, slick and to the point managing in 15 short minutes to deliver his exposition on the uranium market covering all points from mining and energy security to nuclear power and the green lobby.
The underlying message, however, was a simple, succinct one: “We are currently in a bear market [for uranium], but a bull market turnaround will be rapid.”
Why? Demand will soon outstrip supply, Young said, while the unsustainably low prices are about to rebound.
Sticking with the energy, but moving into coal bed methane, Tlou Energy Ltd, said its power project in Botswana should be up an running in 2019 with an incremental build up to 100 megawatts thereafter.
Genex Power Ltd impressed with its green projects - a solar farm built on a disused gold mine and a giant hydro operation on the same site. The former is furthest advanced with 50-megawatt facility expected to feed into the grid in late November, or early December.
This one of several major catalysts that executive director Simon Kidston reckons should lead to a “significant re-rating” of the share price.
