US stocks mixed into close
Oil price up almost 1%
Dow Jones down around 60 pts
US stocks were mixed into the close with the Dow Jones lower, but the other two benchmarks in positive territory.
The Dow shed around 60 to 21,569, while the Nasdaq is up 28 at 6,342.
The broader based S&P 500 is up just over a point, at 2,460.
The TSX is down 12 at 15,153 in Toronto.
US crude oil (West Texas Intermediate) is up 0.93% to $46.45 a barrel.
MID-SESSION
Wall Street shares were mixed at mid-session but the trend was lower.
The Dow Jones was down 87 points at 31,541 and the S&P 500 was 2.2 lower at 2,456. The tech heavy Nasdaq however is up - 14 points.
It comes as European indices fell and FTSE 100 in London fell almost 14 points and the US dollar slid to an 11-month low as President Trump’s economic agenda was once again in the frame - with doubts arising as to whether he will get through his election pledges.
The healthcare reform bill continues to falter in its current form.
Trump has reportedly now said it's time to "Let Obamacare fail," and that "I'm not going to own it".
In stocks, Netflix (NYSE:NFLX) was a star all day, gaining 11.53% to $180.34 after its second quarter numbers.
On S&P 500 Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE:CMG) was among the big losers, down 6.4% to $366.90.
It comes as a franchise in Virginia temporarily closed this morning after receiving multiple reports from customers who said they got sick after eating at the restaurant.

As European indices lagged, US shares started Tuesday lower, with the Dow Jones down over 70 points at 21,556.
It comes despite a raft of big earnings reports coming in.
The tech heavy Nasdaq shed 7.44 at 6,306 and the S&P 500 lost around five points at 2,454.
In Toronto, the TSX lost almost 25 points to 14,140 in early deals.
A notable riser was Puma Biotechnology Inc (NASDAQ:PBYI), which gained almost 7% to $91.85 as the FDA approved its NERLYNX (neratinib) candidate, formerly known as PB272, for the treatment of breast cancer.
The drug is intended to address an unmet need, as up to 25% of HER2-positive early-stage breast cancer patients treated with trastuzumab-based adjuvant treatment experience a recurrence.
Elsewhere, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE:GS) has reported the steepest drop in second quarter trading revenues compared to other US banks so far, although its profits saw a surprise increase over the period.
The fifth largest US bank by assets posted earnings of US$3.95 a share, beating consensus expectations for US$3.39, down from US$3.72 a year earlier.
Overall revenue came in at US$7.89bn, down from US$7.93bn in the second quarter of last year, but still beat expectations for US$7.52bn. Shares shed 0.84% to $227.34.
Harley-Davidson Inc (NYSE:HOG) shares tanked over 10% lower after the motorcycle maker’s better-than-expected second-quarter earnings were overshadowed by lowered guidance for the full-year.
Meanwhile, Netflix shares surged almost 10% after its second quarter subscriber figures cheered the market.
