Netflix Inc (NYSE:NFLX) was the big after hours story, with shares rocketing 10% after the streaming group blew expectations away in its second quarter, pushing the market cap up to now $78bn.
The group added 5.2mln subscribers in the three months, whIch is historically a weaker time of year for the firm, and is now at more than 100mln subscribers.
Over 4mln of them in the second quarter came from outside the US, and over half the total membership is now international.
The shares hit an all time high.
Last week, 27 of Netflix's original programs received nominations in the Television Academy awards, with 91 Emmy nominations.
Elsewhere, shares in the engineering giant Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT) added almost 1% in after hours deals to $291.24 having closed earlier higher.
It came after Sikorsky, the Lockheed-owned helicopter manufacturing business, signed a multi-year cockpit contract with US aerospace company Kaman.
On the losing front, as now earnings season haws kicked off apace Select Comfort's (NASDAQ:SCSS) shares crashed nearly 6% after hours after the bed and mattress maker did not leave the market resting easy after its second quarter figures.
It posted a quarterly loss of 2 cents per share on $284.7mln in revenue, while analysts had expected EPS of 5 cents on $300.2mln in revenue.
