JB Hunt Transport Services Inc. (NASDAQ:JBHT) saw its shares fall in pre-market trading as the trucking company saw its second-quarter earnings and sales miss expectations.
The Nasdaq-listed firm said its net profit fell to US$97.9mln, or 88 US cents a share in the second quarter, down from US$105.0mln, or 92 US cents a share at the same stage a year earlier, and below the consensus estimate of 91 cents.
The group’s revenue rose by 7% to US$1.73bn, up from US$1.62bn, but that was still below the consensus forecast for US$1.74bn as weaker contract services and truck revenues offset a beat in its intermodal segment.
In pre-market New York trading, JB Hunt shares were down 1.6% at US$90,.37, having lost over 5% in the year to date.
