Sunrise Resources starts pozzolan drilling programme in Nevada

Eleven trenches were excavated within an area over 1.3 km long by 700m wide to expose and sample bedrock

Sunrise Resources Plc (LON:SRES) is set to start the first phase of drilling at its CS pozzolan project in Nevada with a trenching programme now complete.

Eleven trenches were excavated within an area over 1.3 km long by 700m wide to expose and sample bedrock.

Nine trenches were excavated in covered areas on the periphery of the Main Zone and two trenches in the southern part of the newly defined Northeast Zone.

Only one trench (in the Main Zone) failed to reach bedrock and the majority of the others found bedrock that, on a visual basis, is suspected to have perlitic and/or pozzolanic properties.

Drilling of the better exposed central part of the Main Zone is already justified by previous bedrock sampling. An extra hole has now been added to the programme to test the depth extent of pozzolanic tuff in the Tuff Zone.

Patrick Cheetham, executive chairman, said: "I am pleased to be reporting the start of drilling, on schedule. When combined with the results of the trenching, the drilling results will give us a much better 3D understanding of the value of the pozzolan and perlite within the large areas currently being evaluated."
