ITM Power adds Honda to UK customer list

In total, the company now has seventeen agreements in place

ITM Power (LON:ITM) has signed an agreement to provide Honda with hydrogen for its fuel cell powered vehicles in the UK.

The contract is priced at 10/kg, in line with other fuel supply deals ITM has signed recently.

In total, the company now has seventeen agreements in place.

ITM is in the process of rolling out a network of ten hydrogen refuelling stations across the UK, four of which are already in operation.

This network is being supported financially by the government's tech agency Innovate UK, Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) and the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU).

Each station produces hydrogen on site via ITM Power's rapid response electrolyser system, which can refuel a fuel cell electric car in three minutes and provides between 300 to 420 miles of driving on one fill-up.

Honda is one of the five car manufacturers involved in the European-wide HyFive hydrogen fuel initiative.

Thomas Brachmann, at Honda R&D Europe, said: "We are delighted that customers using Honda's Clarity Fuel Cell in the HyFIVE project can refuel at ITM Power's hydrogen refuelling stations.”

Graham Cooley, ITM’s chief executive, added: "We look forward to supporting Honda and its HyFIVE customers with their refuelling requirements for the Clarity Fuel Cell."
