Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) will offer a half-price discount on its Echo smart speaker when it kicks off its Amazon Prime Day flash sales event at 6pm.
The annual event returns for its third year running with offers on thousands of its products over a 30-hour period, six hours longer than last year.
Amazon shares are up 1.82% to $996.57p in late afternoon New York trade.
Ahead of the sales bonanza, which is exclusive to Amazon Prime members, Amazon has revealed some of the items on offer.
The Amazon Echo will be available at US$89.99, a 50% discount, alongside the Echo Dot at US$34.99, which is US$15 cheaper than normal.
Amazon is also selling its best-selling tablet, the Kindle Fire 7, for US$29.99 as opposed to the usual US$49.99, while the Kindle Paperwhite will sell for US$30 cheaper at US$89.99.
The Black+Decker's 18 V Lithium-Ion Flexi Vacuum will be reduced by 55% and the De'Longhi Nespresso Lattissima coffee machine will be available for 50% less.
Last year the company achieved a 60% increase in Amazon Prime Day sales as shoppers snapped up bargains on two million toys, 14,000 Lenovo laptops, 90,000 TVs and 200,000 headphones.
