Pandora Media, oil stocks, and Costco in the frame before the bell - PRE-MARKET

We are tracking some of the movers ahead of the bell in New York

Oil shares were in focus pre-market and shares were lagging after some analyst comment.

ExxonMobil (NYSE:XOM) shares lost 1.52% to $80.85, while Chevron (NYSE:CVX) shed 1.58% to $104.62 after RBC Capital got out the red pen.

The brokerage firm downgraded Exxon to "sector perform" from "outperform," and cut Chevron to 'underperform' from 'sector perform'

RBC praises Exxon's execution and returns, but adds that the performance is already reflected in the share price.

RBC is bearish on Chevron due to what it sees as a rapid ramp-up in the Permian Basin.

Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) shares are taking a pasting and dropped after broker heavyweight Goldman said the stock was worth $180.

Shares closed yesterday at around $319.86.

Elsewhere, Costco (NASDAQ:COST) shares were over 2% after the warehouse retailer posted a better-than-expected 6 percent rise in same-store sales for June.

Pandora Media Inc (NYSE:P) saw shares nudge up in pre-market to $8.89 as it emerged board members and shareholders at the internet radio firm have former Twitter chief operating officer Adam Bain on a short list to become the streaming service's next chief executive, according to a press report.
