As US futures point to a lower open on Thursday, PriceSmart Inc (NASDAQ:PSMT) shares slumped almost 8% in after-hours trade in New York last night to $81.20 as the warehouse chain reported third quarter earnings that did not meet analysts' expectations.
Elsewhere, and on the other side of the coin, office furniture maker Herman Miller Inc (NASDAQ:MLHR) jumped 7.29% to $30.85 as it reported fourth quarter results that topped analysts' expecations.
Revenue for the three months came in at $577 milllion - shot of expectations for $584 million.
On the geopolitical front, rumblings between the White House and North Korea rumble on after a missile test was launched and went further than the North has achieved up to now, prompting fears an attcak c ouold reach Alaska.
Elsewhere, Yum China (NYSE:YUMC) shares tanked 5.31% to $40.13 after the fast food restaurant company reported second quarter EPS (earnings per share) of $0.27, which did however match analysts' expectations.
To chemicals and pharmaceuticals and Merck & Co (NYSE:MRK), one of the largest in the world, dropped 2$ and is down again in pre-market after the FDA put a hold on three studies by the pharmaceutical company involving a potential treatment for a type of blood cancer.
