St George Mining Ltd (ASX:SGQ) has completed three more diamond drill holes at the Windsor nickel sulphide prospect at its 100% owned East Laverton Project in Western Australia.
Previous drilling at Windsor has intersected disseminated nickel sulphides indicating an attractive exploration setting for massive nickel sulphide mineralisation.
Sections of the drill core are being cut for sampling and assaying.

“It’s time to bring in SAMSON to really light up this area and to escalate our search for nickel sulphides in this prospective channel.”
Drilling details
Three further diamond drill holes have been completed at Windsor:
- WINDD006 was drilled to a downhole depth of 120 metres to test an electromagnetic (EM) plate modelled at 100 metres downhole;
- WINDD007 was drilled to a downhole depth of 88 metres to test an EM plate modelled at 62 metres downhole; and
- WIND008 was drilled as a vertical hole to a downhole depth of 115 metres to test the same EM plate targeted in WINDD006.
All three drill holes intersected the Windsor ultramafic unit but did not intersect massive sulphides or any other material in the drill core that could explain the highly conductive modelled EM plates.
A downhole EM survey has been completed in each of the new drill holes with the surveys again detecting offhole highly conductive EM responses.
Further modelling of drill targets at Windsor will be completed once the EM data is available and interpreted.
East Laverton Project
The 100% owned East Laverton Project in Western Australia is an exploration project prospective for gold and nickel and currently the subject of multiple exploration programs.
The East Laverton Project is surrounded by major gold mines with the 8+ million ounce gold Tropicana deposit to the east and the 6+ million ounce gold Gruyere deposit to the north and the world class Laverton gold field to the northwest.
The priority gold targets in their respective belts at the East Laverton Project are as follows:
- Stella Range Belt: Cambridge North, Cambridge, Desert Dragon;
- Central Belt: Bristol; and
- Minigwal Belt: Athena, Ascalon.
A very high conductivity electromagnetic anomaly measuring 210,000 Siemens is the basis for the Windsor nickel prospect.
Analysis
St George is particularly interested in the next phase of exploration at Windsor as the SAMSON EM data will assist in the interpretation of the near surface conductors.
A broad exploration analogue can be drawn between the Silver Swan nickel sulphide deposit in the North Eastern Goldfields and the current exploration target at Windsor.
The high-grade Silver Swan deposit presented as a narrow segmented, steeply dipping, highly conductive massive nickel sulphide shoot extending from 190 metres below the surface.
