An upbeat MJ Gleeson PLC (LON:GLE) said today demand for its houses in the north of England was so strong it has potential buyers queueing up to view its sites.
As a result, profits this year will be above the top end of forecasts, the affordable housebuilder said.
"Gleeson Homes begins the current financial year in its strongest ever position, demand remains strong as is evidenced by the queues forming at site openings and reservations are at record levels," said Jolyon Harrison, chief executive.
“We ended the financial year having achieved our interim target of building 1,000 homes per year and are setting a new target of doubling that to 2,000 within 5 years.”
Gleeson Homes, which focuses on the North, sold 1,013 homes during the year to June, up 12.1% while reservations during the last six months rose by 45%.
The company also has a land arm based in primarily in the south that sells on land once it has received planning permission.
During the year Gleeson Strategic Land sold eight land interests comprising 126 acres equal to 841 plots.
