Nike quick out of the blocks

A limited ‘product assortment’ – comprising Nike footwear, apparel, and accessories – is to be sold on Amazon

Some of the day’s big movers

RISERS

Parkway Inc (NYSE:PKY), up 12.1% at US$22.85

The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board is to acquire the self-managed real estate investment trust (REIT) in a takeover worth US$23.05 per share. The deal values Houston-based Parkway at US$1.2bn.

Nike Inc (NYSE:NIKE), up 8.5% at US$57.70

The controversial sportswear maker received a double-boost, with better than expected earnings announced last night supplemented by news that its footwear will be sold online via Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN).

LOSERS

Cara Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:CARA), down 30% at US$17.84.

The stock tanked after the company issued top-line results last night from its Phase 2b trial of orally taken CR845, a treatment for osteoarthritis of the knee or hip. CR845 failed to produce lower pain scores compared to the placebo in any dosage.

Blue Apron Holdings Inc (NYSE:APRN), down 3.7% at US$9.63.

The stock finished its first day of trading yesterday at its listing price of US$10 - and that’s despite the company slashing the issue price in order to get institutional clients on board. Today, it has moved below the issue price.
