Sky Sports has retained the exclusive live rights to air English cricket from 2020 to 2024 after outbidding BT Sports.
The broadcaster, owned by Sky plc (LON:SKY), has extended its current deal for a further seven years, The Telegraph reported. It is likely to double its existing deal of £75mln per year to preserve its position as the home to English cricket broadcasting.
Cricket will also return to the BBC for the first time since 1999 when the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announces the results of its broadcast auction later today.
BBC won the free to air, digital and radio rights packages put up for sale by the ECB.
