The AIM-quoted eSports group will be the event partner for Microsoft’s ‘EU Halo Championship Series (HCS) Fall 2017 Season’. It follows on from a successful previous partnership between Gfinity and Microsoft with other tournaments, the Forza Racing Championship 2017 and Gears of War tournaments in 2016.
“The partnership between Gfinity and Microsoft on this event helps to further establish Gfinity as a leader in international esports tournament design and execution," said Neville Upton, Gfinity chief executive.
The HCS will comprise four weekly tournaments, starting mid-August. The events will be broadcast live across online streaming services.
As part of the collaboration, there will also be an ‘open’ tournament held at Gfinity’s London arena in September. This event will have a US$25,000 prize pool.
Upton added: "Everyone at Gfinity is extremely proud to be announced once again by Microsoft as the tournament partner for the Halo Championship Series in Europe this fall,” said Neville Upton, Gfinity chief executive.
“Microsoft and Xbox are game industry leaders and we look forward to working with them in bringing the Halo community the most engaging online competition and head-to-head event held at the Gfinity Esports Arena, in London.
Tashir Hasandjekic, eSports producer at 343 Industries (the Microsoft subsidiary behind the Halo franchise), said: "Gfinity are known for their world-class events and shows and we're excited to partner with them once again for the upcoming season of the Halo Championship Series in Europe.
“We can't wait to see the European Halo community come out in full force to play and compete online and in-person this fall."
