Barra Resources (ASX:BAR) has received high-grade gold assays from the first 37 holes of its drilling program at the Burbanks Gold Project, 9 kilometres south of Coolgardie in Western Australia.
Significant results from the recently completed Phase 1, 13,000 metre, 103 hole aircore drilling program at Burbanks North include:
- 6 metres at 6.39 g/t gold from 9 metres;
- 9 metres at 4.76 g/t gold from 11 metres; and
- 5 metres at 3.21 g/t gold from 21 metres.
These first assay results demonstrate multiple intersections grading more than 1 g/t gold over down-hole widths up to 10 metres from infill drilling within the Burbanks North Deposit area.
The recently completed drilling consisted of 103 shallow aircore holes and was designed to infill and extend the limits of the Burbanks North Deposit and test the highly prospective Burbanks North Trend.
In particular, the program was designed to infill zones of open mineralisation within and proximal to the recently optimised pit shell at Burbanks North.
The remaining results are expected to be received over the coming weeks.
The Burbanks Project has a proven production history with more than 400,000 ounces of gold produced at the Birthday Gift and Main Lode mines since 1885.
Barra has held an interest in the project area since 1999 where it has produced 36,000 ounces of gold in its own capacity.
