European Lithium assays confirm Zone 2 resource potential

Assays from two diamond holes at Zone 2 confirm lithium mineralisation.

European Lithium (ASX:EUR) has received assay results from its surface drilling program in Zone 2 at its advanced Wolfsberg Lithium Project located in Austria.

The two drill holes recently completed in Zone 2 both show wide intersections of spodumene rich pegmatite and have exceeded the company’s expectations.

Results feature numerous pegmatite intersections including 3.38 metres grading 1.45% lithium oxide.

Steve Kesler, CEO, commented: “The pegmatite intersections were visibly spodumene rich with many large crystals and these assays confirm them to be of high lithium grade.

“Clearly we have excellent exploration potential in Zone 2 and can look forward to adding significantly to the resource already declared in Zone 1.”

Drill result details

A drilling and trenching program comprising 1,750 metres of diamond drilling and 300 metres of trenching was defined for Zone 2.

Drill hole P15-5 was 150 metres deep and drill hole P15-6 was 200 metres deep.

Hole P15-5 showed numerous pegmatite intersections including one of 3.38 metres mineralised width at 1.45% lithium oxide and another of 2.49 metres width with 2.27 metres mineralised at 1.92% lithium oxide.

Hole P15-6 also showed numerous pegmatite intersections including one of 5.38 metres width with 3.88 metres mineralised at 1.1% lithium oxide and another of 5.25 metres width with 3.99 metres mineralised at 1.26% lithium oxide.

Follow-up drilling

These drill results show pegmatite intersections down to the full depth of the drill holes which indicates that deeper drilling is warranted.

The current drilling campaign in Zone 2 has 6 further drill holes planned along strike to the north east and south west of drill holes P15-5 and P15-6.

Analysis

The assays confirm what the preliminary drill results suggested, which is that Zone 2 demonstrates the presence of lithium bearing pegmatites.

The current JORC resource for Wolfsberg is hosted by Zone 1 on the northern limb, meaning Zone2 on the southern limb has potential to increase the project’s resource size.

It is believed that the southern limb has the potential to mirror the resource of the northern limb.

The company’s strategy remains focused on fast tracking a lithium mining operation at Wolfsberg but this drilling campaign has created valuable options for European Lithium going forward.
