White Cliff Minerals assays confirm gold at East Burtville

The near-surface gold mineralisation suggests a potential open-pit operation.

White Cliff Minerals (ASX:WCN) has assayed high-grade gold mineralisation at the East Burtville Prospect within the Merolia Gold Project near Laverton in Western Australia.

One metre assay results from the drilling featured 5 metres at 7.2 g/t gold from surface.

Mineralisation starts at surface and is open at depth and along strike.

Todd Hibberd, managing director, commented: “The East Burtville prospect has great potential to host a high grade gold deposit that is amenable to open pit mining.

“The quartz vein has been identified over 100 metres of strike and 80 metres depth with some very attractive grades.”

Drill result details

White Cliff recently completed a 733 metre drilling program targeting significant gold mineralisation identified in historical exploration and mine workings.

The current drilling identified high-grade gold mineralisation in four-metre composite interval samples including:

- 8 metres at 6.7 g/t gold from surface;

- 4 metres at 5.1 g/t gold from surface;

- 4 metres at 3.4 g/t gold from 40m within quartz veining; and

- 8 metres at 0.68 g/t gold from 72m within quartz veining.

Follow-up sampling of the one metre interval samples confirmed the above mineralisation.

Results include:

- 5 metres at 7.2 g/t gold including 1 metre at 14.2 g/t gold from surface;

- 4 metres at 5.5 g/t gold including 1 metre at 20.8 g/t gold;

- 1 metre at 3.9 g/t gold; and

- 3 metres at 2.1 g/t gold.

Intersections from historical drilling also intersected high-grade gold mineralisation associated with quartz veining including 5 metres at 27.8 g/t gold.

The company is currently planning further drilling.

East Burtville Prospect

White Cliff acquired the East Burtville Prospect in 2011 as part of the Merolia Gold and Nickel project.

The prospect occurs in the north-westerly trending Merolia greenstone belt which is interpreted to form part of the Laverton greenstone belt.

Mineralisation occurs as quartz veining in metamorphosed basalts which trends north-south and is sub-vertical.

The vein has been identified over 100 metres via drilling and is untested along strike and at depth.

Analysis

The follow-up sampling of the one-metre intervals has confirmed the gold mineralisation intersected near-surface which supports the potential for an open pit gold mine.

The Laverton region has several mills that are within haulage distance so a small open pit-toll treatment operation is a distinct possibility.

With the company currently planning further drilling at East Burtville and an upcoming drilling program at the Aucu Gold Project in Kyrgyz Republic, White Cliff remains leveraged to exploration based news flow.
