Just three days after the anniversary of the referendum outspoken Brexiteer Tim Martin has unveiled the biggest-ever EU-based investment for pub group JD Wetherspoon Plc (LON:JDW).
Wetherspoon is to put in €15 mln to develop a site in Dublin’s Camden Street area, with work expected to start in February ahead of an early 2019 opening (likely nipping in ahead of the anticipated Brexit deadline).
The Wetherspoon chairman said: “Our pubs in the Republic of Ireland are thriving and we are confident that the pub and hotel will be a great asset to Dublin and act as a catalyst for other businesses to invest in the city.”
The Watford headquartered pub chain presently has five sites in the Republic of Ireland, in addition to its portfolio of more than 900 hundred pubs in the United Kingdom.
