88 Energy completes frack programme at Icewine-2 shale well in Alaska

With the completion of the fracking, 88 Energy can now advance the Icewine-2 well to the pivotal production testing phase.

88 Energy Ltd (LON:88E) has confirmed that the second stage of fracking in the Icewine-2 appraisal well has been completed successfully.

Two zones of the HRZ shale have now been fracture stimulated, the company highlighted, with more than 98% of the intended proppant volume injected into the reservoir.

With the completion of the fracking, the company can now advance the Icewine-2 well to the pivotal production testing phase.

88 Energy told investors that flowback from the well will now begin, starting with the Upper HRZ zone, until a representative sample has been obtain. It will then comingle flow from the Lower HRZ zone and take further samples.

Subsequently, the company will then begin to open up the well in order to test the maximum potential flow rates from Icewine-2.

It is expected that analysis of samples will be done over the next four to six weeks, allowing for a detailed characterisation of the hydrocarbon composition and phase in the reservoir.

88 Energy told investors it will make further updates as and when appropriate through the remainder of the Icewine-2 programme.
