Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) is one of the companies considering a potential takeover of corporate chatroom start-up Slack Technologies, according to media reports.
A Bloomberg story, quoting people with knowledge of the approaches, said a deal could value San Francisco-based Slack at at least US$9bn (£7.1mln).
But, the report added, an agreement isn’t assured and discussions with the technology companies may not go any further.
Slack raised US$200mln in its latest funding round in 2016, valuing it at US$3.8bn (£3bn).
In January, Slack debuted an enterprise version of its chat software that allows tens of thousands of employees to collaborate across teams at major corporations.
Slack has 5mln daily active users – 1.5mln of whom pay to use the service and had US$150mln in annual recurring revenue as of 31 January 2017.
