Taxi app Uber has now fired the head of its self-driving car division Anthony Levandowski as the legal wrangling between it and Google continues.
Google parent's self-driving car division Waymo is suing Uber over claims former employee Levandowski stole trade secrets that were later used by Uber.
He left Google (Waymo) in 2016.
Reportedly, Levandowski was dismissed on Monday this week for failing to help with the investigation.
He declined to testify under his right to avoid self-incrimination and refused to give the court requested documents.
Earlier in May, Uber was ordered by a California judge to return intellectual property belonging to Waymo.
District Judge William Alsup's ruling stated that Waymo had shown compelling evidence that he (Levandowski) had "pilfered" thousands of documents from the company.
The engineer was banned from certain work for Uber's autonomous driving project.
Uber had to return the documents either to Waymo or the court by the end of May.
Reportedly, Uber, in the termination letter, said Levandowski had "impeded Uber's internal investigation and defence of the lawsuit".
It added that his refusal to help gave it grounds to allege that he did not "return or destroy all property and confidential information belonging to any prior employer" when he joined the business.
