Viva Veeva after impressive quarterlies

Strong results from tech stock Veeva; market gives thumbs-up to Rayonier's takeover of Tembec; two entertainment stocks suffer

RISERS

Veeva Systems Inc (NYSE:VEEV), up 7.5% at US$66.38.

The provider of cloud solutions for the life sciences sector saw first net quarter income almost triple to US$36.0mln on revenues that rose to US$157.9mln from US$119.8mln the year before.

Rayonier Advanced Materials Inc (NYSE:RYAM), up 6.0% at US$15.645.

Rayonier announced an agreed bid for Tembec Inc (TSE:TMB). The combined company will offer customers “exceptional product breadth across the spectrum of high purity cellulose products and create additional growth opportunities in packaging and forest products,” Rayonier said.

FALLERS

Gamestop Corp (NYSE:GME), down 6.7% at US$22.03.

The computer games and gaming hardware seller saw global sales rise 3.8% to US$2.05bn in the first quarter, thanks to a 17.1% rise in international sales that offset a 2.4% decline in the US.

Eros International PLC (NYSE:EROS), down 5.4% at US$10.50.

The Indian film entertainment company’s Indian subsidiary released results that were not worth making much of a song and dance about. Fiscal fourth quarter revenues were down 29.1% year-on-year while earnings per share tumbled 34.9%.
