Cobalt Blue's assays surpass expectations and will upgrade resource

The results are expected to enhance the average grade within the mineralised envelope.

Cobalt Blue (ASX:COB) has revealed the final assays from the extensive program at the company's Thackaringa project in New South Wales.

The results are expected to enhance the average grade within the overall mineralised envelope, with a new upgraded resource to be released in June.

Key highlights

Railway Trend: 84 metres at 1,013ppm cobalt, 15.6% iron and 12.8% sulphur from 19 metres; and 46 metres at 1,234ppm cobalt, 13.8% iron and 14.8% sulphur from 19 metres.

Pyrite Hill: 14 metres at 1,436ppm cobalt, 12.3% iron and 12.1% sulphur from 68 metres; and 43 metres at 1,082ppm cobalt, 9.2% iron and 9% sulphur from 96 metres.

Summing up the resource definition drilling program, Rob Biancardi, chairman, commented:

"These latest assay results are extremely pleasing and confirm the continuity and tenor of cobalt-pyrite mineralisation over a combined 4.5 kilometres of strike at Thackaringa.

"Completion of the assay component of the 1H 2017 drilling program should allow a significant resource upgrade to be released early June.

"COB remains pleased with the results of the drilling program and with the positive early indications of the metallurgical and scoping studies underway."
