Sunrise Resources to accentuate the pozzolan

The group will look to unlock the value inherent in its other project interests through joint venture, sale or other arrangements, and apply the funds to progress its pozzolan and perlite strategy.

Sunrise Resources Plc (LON:SRES) hopes to kick on with bulk sampling and customer trials this year at its CS project in Nevada.

In its half-year results, the company said its focus in the six months to the end of March had largely been on the Pozz projects, and in particular the CS pozzolan-perlite one, where it is searching for deposits of natural pozzolan – a “greener” alternative to the use of Portland cement in cement and concrete mixes.

“The CS Project contains areas of both perlite and natural pozzolan and has advanced considerably this last six months,” said Sunrise’s executive chairman, Patrick Cheetham.

“Test-work is progressing well and shows that the perlite samples are very high quality for various industrial applications and we have just received the first independent certification of the pozzolan. More significantly, we have recently completed a positive concept study for development of the CS Project which has identified a low capital cost development option with attractive returns on the production of both natural pozzolan and perlite,” he added.

The chairman added that the company would move quickly to kick off the necessary technical work, feasibility studies and permitting processes at CS.

Turning to the company’s investment in Block Energy PLC – formerly Goldcrest Resources PLC – Cheetham said he was pleased to see that the company is now looking to list on Aim.

As a pre-revenue company, Sunrise’s profit & loss numbers were largely academic; administrative expenses declined to £134,741 from £142,453 the year before and formed the bulk of the operating loss of £149,592 (2015/6: £149,713).

The loss before tax widened slightly to £162,869 from £149,534 the year before.
