Recce moves closer to clinical study application in the U.S.

Superbugs are widely acknowledged as a threat to human and animal health.

Recce (ASX:RCE) has successfully verified the chemical structure and stability of its lead compound as it moves closer to completing the documentation required for its U.S. FDA application.

Recce® 327 is a synthetic compound being developed to fight against viruses and bacteria, including superbugs, even after repeated use.

The new data on Recce® 327 is essential for the company’s pending data package for an Investigational New Drug (IND) application to the FDA.

As per the new data, Recce® 327 could be tracked in the blood of study animals - enabling researchers to trace its path.

The tests also confirmed the compound's structure, chemical stability and mode of action as outlined in the patents and manufacturing process.

The data re-confirmed earlier tests and added to the growing data package of safety data being compiled as part of the IND application.

Recce’s next step is to assess a soon to conclude study of toxicity in rats, utilising the newly developed analytical methods.

Antibiotic resistant bacterial infections (superbugs) are widely acknowledged as a threat to global human and animal health.

Several governments along with the United Nations and the World Health Organization have enacted a number of legislative and financial initiatives designed to support the rapid development of new antibiotics.
