Leading Edge Materials Corp's (CVE:LEM) has reported encouraging test findings of 18650 lithium-ion battery cells made using high-purity graphite from its Woxna mine in Sweden.
Significantly, 18650 battery cells are the industry standard for testing battery performance.
They are equivalent to those used in Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) electric vehicles.

The batteries were assessed using high-precision coulometry (HPC) to measure anode performance and stability under real-world conditions.
Blair Way, Leading Edge's president and chief executive, said it was 'rewarding' progress.
"18650 cells were manufactured using over four kilograms of Woxna high-purity graphite and provide the best test of graphite anode performance under real-world conditions, well beyond the testing possible on smaller coin cells.
"The HPC test results are encouraging, and I look forward to continuing this qualification process."
A large amount of commercial graphite flotation concentrate from Woxna was shipped to an independent lab in the US for spheronizing and thermal purification before use in the manufacture of the 18650 battery cells
The latest development follows news in April that the "Woxna high purity spherical graphite product is now of a quality to warrant progression to 18650 lithium ion battery cell manufacture".
Leading Edge will now proceed further with battery material qualification. The next stage of testing will include expanded 18650 battery cell manufacture and undertaking more exhaustive material and performance testing.
Leading Edge is focused on green energy markets with a focus on Europe and assets in innovation-rich Scandinavia.
Shares in Toronto added 3.64% to $0.57.
